| ARTWORK REQUIREMENTS: | |
In order for the artwork to print correctly, the design needs to be set at PRINT SIZE and at 300 DPI. The print size is defined at the size you want the art to be printed on the garment. 300 DPI is the resolution standard for print. Common File extensions are .PSD, .JPG, .TIFF, and .EPS. Color separations are needed for multi color print work. For example, if you are creating an image with a white and red ink print, each color needs to be on its own separate layer in you document. All artwork needs to be done in Black and white. No colors are needed in the artwork expect for a preview. Vector Artwork Vector Art is art that is built (actually drawn) in a vector or object based program such as Adobe Illustrator, Corel Draw, or Adobe Freehand. Each object in vector file can be selected and individually manipulated independently from the rest of the image. Common files extensions for this type of file include .AI and .EPS. When providing such files, it is important to convert to curves or create outlines out of all text used. For a vector art file (i.e. Adobe Illustrator file) with no placed images resolution is not a concern. Other Stuff to know Send a mock up of placement where you want the logo to be placed on the garment. Mock ups are for design placement only! Size of the design relative to the shirt in a mock up will not be assessed as the actual design size! Also, send the text file if you are designing artwork that is non-vector based. Charges for Editing Artwork can make or break a print job and how the design looks on the garment. Please call with questions and the Spilt Ink crew can help you out. We are happy to help at a charge of $25 an hour for artwork editing to make it print ready. All artwork will be sent back to the client for future use! |
